How to install ARINC 664 ProView in Windows 8
Notes:
- Windows 8 is not officially supported yet.
- X86 or X64 Processor needed. There is no ARM support.
- ProView does not work in Metro, you must use desktop mode to use ProView.
Download the latest ProView installer and run the installer application:
If you get an error that this program was stopped from executing, click on ‘More Info’.
Then on ‘Run Anyway’ to install ProView.
If User Account Control is enabled, you will be asked to allow the installer to make changes to your computer. Click on Yes to continue.
Go through the installer as instructed here, but don't select 'Install WinPcap' here. We will have to manually install this later after the rest of the ProView software has been completed.
When the install is finished, open an explorer window by going to the folder icon on the task bar. Then goto “C:\Program Files\ARINC 664 ProView” (“C:\Program Files (x86)\ARINC 664 ProView” if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows).
Find the application named 'WinPcap_4_1_2' and right-click on the icon. Select 'Troubleshoot compatibility’.
Then click on ‘Troubleshoot Program’. Select ‘The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now’ and click on ‘Next’.
Select ‘Windows XP (Service Pack 3)’ and click on ‘Next’
USB Dongle
When you physically plug in the USB KEYLOK dongle (if you bought one) please note that it will not install until you go into the device manager and right click on 'unknown device' and ask it to install automatically. It will then install the dongle and you may then start the ProView software without the 5 minute recording time limit. If you have issues with this, please contact us by phone or e-mail and we will be happy to help you through this process.
